We recently decided to set up a little studio in our basement. Here is one of the favorites from our first "session"!

A Different Life

You've all heard it said, "Having a baby changes everything." I have concluded that descriptions of select terms and usage change as a mother's life [necessarily] becomes more directed towards the care of her little one.

• "Getting out" can now include "going to the mailbox."
• "Sacrifice" becomes an everyday, if not every 3 hours, practice.
• "Poop" is, unfortunately, a common yet important topic of conversation.
• "Getting ready to go" can't possibly take less than sixty minutes.
• In regards to being hungry, "Can you wait to eat?" only ever applies to me.
• While "smiling" used to be relatively effortless, I now employ all my facial strength to grin my biggest grin, in hopes of getting even the littlest smile back in return.
• "Talking" can now occur at unprecedented levels saccharine.
• "Alarm clock" now = the voice of my four-month-old.
• And most importantly, "joy" has turned into a once-in-awhile feeling to an "every-time-I-see her-sweet-face-or-hear-her-little-voice" feeling.
